Lecture: Out of the Secret World: Cosmic Visions in the Soviet Imagination

Dr. Asif Siddiqi - 02/13/18

Recently, Dr. Asif Siddiqi came to the Bruce Museum to deliver a lecture as part of our Hot Art in a Cold War public program series.

Dr. Siddiqi is a professor in the Department of History at Fordham University in New York. He studies both the history of science and modern Russia, and the history of the Soviet Space program is the combination of both these disciplines. The books he has written on the subject were instrumental in the curation of Hot Art in a Cold War, and are well renowned in the academic community.

His talk explored the delicate interplay between the secrecy surrounding Soviet military pursuits and their desire to let the victories of their space program shine across the Soviet Union and the World.
